Hydrodynamic and Geostress Controls on CBM Enrichment in the Anze Block, Southern Qinshui Basin, North China

The coalbed methane (CBM) resource in the southern Qinshui Basin, North China, is abundant. Proper understanding of geological control factors on CBM enrichment Anze Block Basin critical to design efficient development plan this area. Field and laboratory data including well logging, testing, hydraulic fracturing, groundwater chemical analysis were used evaluate characteristics hydrodynamic geostress, then, combined effect geostress field was analyzed. results show that total dissolved solids (TDS) west generally lower than other areas block, primary formation water NaHCO3-type. shows a ? H > v h dominated type area, western block has value eastern block. strong with low TDS also gas content while weak high higher content. Both horizontal stress differences are positively related content, indicating inactive hydrodynamics large difference coal reservoir favorable for preservation.
